Beaked whale rescued from Moorea Marina

Tout commence par une idée.

On the 18th of December, 2023, we participated in rescuing a Cuvier’s beaked whale named Tēta. She was trapped for 2 days, unable to find an exit from the reef barrier. Local organizations had not succeeded in using a tow boat the previous day to help her (she simply would not move) however they did succeed in keeping her alive and supported until we arrived so she wouldn’t drown. Once we arrived on the scene, founder Huukena Ismaël went into action, succeeding immediately in coaxing the whale towards the reef. Through his ability to communicate with animals, he learned that her name was Tēta. It is Huukena’s belief that Tēta carried a message with her, asking for help. Normally these types of whales, which are known to be some of the deepest-diving whales, are not commonly seen this close to shore.
